thoughts during study week

It is just a blink of an eye and now here I am, in the midst of my study week of this semester already. For this semester, time passed by without giving me any notice. I joined a couple of events and addicted to dramas. Basketball is my usual sport for the weekends and sometimes even for weekday, but still I'm not real good in it.

As for my academic, it is a mess. I took up seven subjects: Statics, Differential Equation, Academic Writing, Introduction to Oil and Gas, Engineering Drawing, Introduction to Material Science and lastly Business Accounting (minor). I hardly understand a few of the chapters in Statics. I can do Differential Equation questions but not knowing the purpose of the application of formulas. Academic Writing lectures are all in the morning and it is definitely not among my favourite lectures. I think I have only turn up for the Intro to Oil and Gas lectures for four times. Engineering Drawing sometimes appear to be interesting but for me, mostly it is frustrating. As for Intro to Material Science, it is the only chemistry-liked subject and I think I hate it. All I can say about Business Accounting is that I underestimated that subject as I took Accounting in Form 5. My coursework marks are such a sore to my eyes. It is definitely not a first semester of my degree studying that I wish for.

Many other disappointment followed. Manchester United lost in the pursuit for the BPL and UEFA Champion League Cup. San Antonio Spurs was down 4-0 in the NBA conference semi finals to Phoenix Suns and I'll have to put all my supports on LA Lakers then. Now, I'm supporting Malaysia for the Thomas Cup, but not Uber.

My body clock changed and I slept quite late recently. I can't help it but there is no giving up in changing that as I am still working on it. Wish me all the best for my finals and please, please don't have the shock expression on your face when you realise that my results are poor.

me vs weather

I have been feeling very frustrated when it rained while I was about to go for sports, and it rained when my clothes were left outside for drying.

I went swimming this evening. The erratic weather always manage to get me on my nerve but not this time! There was a little drizzle when I reached the swimming pool. Reluctant to go back room just like that, I was in the water after 5 minutes. It rained more heavily after a short while. The scene of raindrops hitting again the surface of the water was so nice and I could hear it clearly under the water. It appeared to be so peaceful. Soon I saw a few guys with football boots and ball coming over. The first thing on my mind was "Oh, shit! Those guys with sweats all over are coming down to the pool? Yucks!" And so, I got out of the water and made a final jump into the pool before leaving. I didn't regret swimming in the rain.

But then, I headed for the badminton court and saw my friends playing there. I joined and this time, the weather took his revenge. I was trapped there until nine something as the heavy downpour was not willing to rest the case. I was soaking wet in my perspiration and I hadn't taken my dinner. Please stop me rain! I SURRENDER!!! In the end, I had to walk back to my room barefooted under the rain. The weather maybe was laughing at me but I claimed my time for sports this time!

Sem Break

It was almost 2 months ago when I finished my last paper for my foundation studies, that is the irritating Chem II. My sem break officially started at that moment. After I reached home at 9pm and packed all my things, I manage to have a 4-hour sleep before we hit the road again to Penang International Airport. Taken 3 flights in a day, we finally reach CHINA! syiok! hahaha. It is an enjoyable 6 days trip with my family, but about a day's time was spent on the airplane. I think I need to fill up hundreds more piggy banks if I want to go for the next trip, haha. FAMA 100% sponsor la actually.

After back to home, I spent most of my time at home watching TV dramas and surfing the web. I did turn up for some friends gathering too. Apart from that, I went swimming, futsal, badminton, football and basketball, but only once for each sports. Then I also continued practising my driving skills. But the most important things I did during the sem break was to EAT! My mom prepared some of my favourites, as shown below.

Dunno what it is called

Hokkien Mee

Laksa

On 8th Jan, I had to bring along my matric card for the first time since the sem break started because I was back to UTP and worse off, without my laptop! It was then that I realised that if I did not online, I actually had at least 6 hours of free time a day. Boredom set me off to Kampar. JL, CY and me went to visit Jason for the first time. Thanks Jason for allocating time to take us around Kampar. It is undeniable that we three UTPians envied Jason because Kampar was really a food paradise if compared to UTP.

Didn't take any other pictures, just took the pic of the Grand Kampar Hotel

The next day, I was standing somewhere I never set foot in before. Looking up into the sky, two big buildings blocked my sight. They are the Petronas Twin Towers. We were there to gather before heading for Port Dickson for Soaring The Eagle (STE) Programme. Casa Rachado was the resort we stayed. I enjoyed the 5 days camp and learnt something, something that I can merely remember already, haha.

KLCC + STE

I went back Alor Star for a week before going back to UTP again to indulge myself for the last time before the new sem started. I finally entered degree and the first 2 days were like WTFook. The confusing timetable kept stars circling above my head like the ring of light. Everything hasn't settled down for the moment. Anyway, I enjoyed my sem break, a lot.

last for 2009

2009 lasts till tomorrow just before the clock strikes 12 am sharp. I'll be 19 soon. While I loss track of time enjoying my holidays, a year passed by in a flash.

Yesterday, I went through the newspaper and came across a captivating headline "18-year old Barefoot Burglar". In the age of 18, he has stolen things ranged from credit cards to private planes. Although he is a burglar, I admit I have some sense of admiration towards him. Pixie Lott, a British singer now, makes her way to international stage at the age of 18. Many other 18 year old teens successfully land themselves in the world most pretigious football league (BPL), the long-yearning destination of all basketball players (NBA) and other leading fields of the world. While others blossom out at the age of 18, I spent my 18 watching TV, surfing facebook, but that's my life. I can complain nothing as they have put in so much efforts for their success while I haven't. I don't expect myself to be like them, just hoping that in 2010, I can learn more, know more, do more, see more, grow more and eat more perhaps, haha.

2010, I'm up to my heel and off to go. Don't let me stop.

short tales in recent life

Get something extra for lunch for FREE just makes you feel good. Haha. Few days back, I got a double-sized chicken patty but the tauke just have me paid for the normal price. He said:"You're lucky today, I'm supposed to charge you for more but I'll just have it as the normal price. The two chicken patties just stick to each other." Before this, he also joked about charging me double when I got a double yolk egg. Below is an attached picture of my extra value lunch.

my regular meal

Then, two days before I sit for my ICIS final paper, I woke up at 7.30am for a jog. I planned to start off my last minute ICIS revision after the jog. That morning, my image on the mirror gave me a big shock. I looked like a zombie, or perhaps a panda. Are my eye balls protruding outwards and caused "shadows" to be casted under my eyes? Haha. It was already quite bright that time. The air is invigorating. After having some warm-ups, I plugged in my earphones and took off. I found myself gasping for air just after one complete round around the lake. Low stamina... I LOVE MY SPORTSHOES, although they were worn off. Sorry for not taking good care of you, by making you a pair of multipurpose shoes...

comfortable, convenient,... support Adidas! haha

And that day, I left my clothes outside drying and headed for IRC for some revision. I think my "RAM" was completely stuffed with ICIS notes, terms, etc until I totally forgot about my clothes. At 6pm, I ran through the rain to "rescue" them. It's too late, anyway. They were soaked wet.

One last tale, I was late for my ICIS final exam. I didn't wake up late, just that I wasted too much time on the way to the examination hall. I had so many butteflies in my stomach when I entered the hall. I took some time to settle down before starting my ICIS final paper. The objective questions were tougher than the subjective ones. Hope to have good marks...

self reflection

I always think that I'm mature enough to organise my own life. Well, now that I really allocate some time to think about this issue that I've tried to avoid for such long time, I realise that I'm not as good as I think.

After entering UTP, my body clock changed. 12am, a time that I considered to be very late back in my secondary school life, now appears to be the beginning of the night. I'll only retire for the night at 3 to 4am. I've put a liitle effort to change it. I threw myself onto bed on 12am yesterday but yet, I woke up at 11am. No matter how early I sleep, I'll just wake up late. My mom wasn't there anymore to wake me up and to drag me to bed.

Secondly, I wasted a lot of time. Facebook is the main culprit, I guess. (pointing the finger to others since I'm the one in blame) I spent a lot of time on Facebook recently. I even surf Facebook when I was revising for my tests which eventually cost me a lot of lost marks. I've rushed through an anime and a Japanese drama recently, Code Geass and Proposal Daisekusen which I rated above 8/10 for both. It is time-consuming but it is much worthy than surfing Facebook. I would also rather use the time I wasted on Facebook to chat with friends on MSN.

I think that I've lived a lifeless life and I've not been using my brain to think in my university life. Sometimes, I have the thought that life is meaningless but I remembered once when my friend said his life is meaningless, I told him,"Life is meaningful, you are the one that is useless to make your life meaningless." I'm damn disappointed with myself now. I seemed to have a scheduled life. It is either going to lectures or spending time in the room surfing the internet. I've also been killing my creativity. I'm living life to the "foolest", not fullest.

Promises:

1. I would try to sleep early with some exceptions:
(i) if there is a MU match that particular night.
(ii) if I have examination or some assignments to be handed over the other day.
2. I would cut down on my time in Facebook, no exceptions.
3. I would spend more time to think and try to live life to the fullest.
4. I would try to fulfill my promises.

Village 2 in UTP

I promised CSC that I'll take pictures of V2. Sorry for taking such a long time to show you. But at least I keep my promise. Haha.

This is the V2 cafe. Up there is called V2 foyer
where students ususally have meetings.

V2A

V2B

V2D - the block I'm living in. The window above right where the stairs start descending,
is my room. So, I also don't know I'm in the ground floor or the first floor. Haha.

This is the intruder found. So now you can see the consequences of trespassing. Haha.

"I think it is not necessary to let you all take a look at my room so I don't take any photos.
Nothing special about it..."
